Promotion Address 2025
Good morning, Kingsley fifth graders, parents, families, and friends. What a privilege it is to commemorate this special moment with you today!
My Dear Room 40,
Salvete, Discipuli!
We're celebrating today the close of one chapter of your childhood and the opening of a new one. I want you to know how grateful I am to have worked with you this year! It has been such a blessing!
Now you're taking the next step toward a future of your own choosing. Build wisely. You might remember Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem "The Builders." In it he talks about how the choices we make each day are the building blocks of our tomorrows. He says in part:
All are architects of Fate,
Working in these walls of Time;
Some with massive deeds and great,
Some with ornaments of rhyme.
[...]
For the structure that we raise,
Time is with materials filled;
Our to-days and yesterdays
Are the blocks with which we build.
[...]
Build to-day, then, strong and sure,
With a firm and ample base;
And ascending and secure
Shall to-morrow find its place.
Each of you is a unique person with special gifts! You are free, and your future is boundless. Build strong and sure by working hard, being truthful, and honoring your parents, and to-morrow will find its place!
Valete, Discipuli! God bless you always!
It is my pleasure to present The Lions of Room 40 ….
